Itinerary Details

On day 1 of the Foothills of Himalayas with the Golden Temple tour package, you will arrive in Delhi, the vibrant capital city of India. You will be welcomed by our representative at the airport who will transfer you to your hotel. After a brief rest, you will embark on a sightseeing tour of Delhi, which includes visits to the magnificent Red Fort, the Jama Masjid, and the Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. You will also drive past the India Gate, the Parliament House, and the President's House. The tour will give you a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Delhi, which has been the Centre of power for several dynasties over the centuries. In the evening, you can explore the bustling markets and savour some delicious street food in Old Delhi.

Post breakfast, explore vibrant city of Delhi. The city is known for its rich history, cultural diversity, and modernity. Get a chance to witness the hustle and bustle of the old city as you explore the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets in India. In the evening, you will return to your hotel and prepare for the next leg of your journey, Amritsar- City of Holy Sikhs.

On 3rd Day, embark on a train journey from Delhi to Amritsar on the Swarna Shatabdi Express. This train is known for its speed and comfort, providing a great way to explore the Indian countryside. After reaching Amritsar in the afternoon, you will head straight to the Golden Temple, one of the most important religious sites for the Sikh community. This magnificent temple is made of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful pool of water, making it a stunning sight to behold. Later in the evening, you will visit the Wagah Border, the only road crossing between India and Pakistan, where you will witness the famous Beating Retreat ceremony. The ceremony is a daily military practice that has been conducted by both countries since 1959, and it is a truly unique experience that should not be missed.

Form northern plain, the tour will proceed now towards Foothills of Himalayas. Depart from Amritsar and head towards Mcleodganj, a journey of approximately 190 kilometres that takes about 5 hours. Mcleodganj, also known as "Little Lhasa," is the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and is known for its strong Tibetan influence. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel and have some time to relax before embarking on a guided tour of the town. The tour includes a visit to the famous Namgyal Monastery, the residence of the Dalai Lama, and the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts. Explore the colourful local markets and indulge in some local cuisine. Mcleodganj is surrounded by picturesque hills and offers stunning views of the Dhauladhar Range, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers.

Enjoy the sightseeing places of Mcleodganj in and around. Visit Bhagsu Waterfall located near Bhasugnath Temple and surrounded by lush greenery. Have a moderate trek to Triund Trek which offers panoramic views of surrounding Himalayan peaks. Neo-Gothic Church is a tranquil retreat. Kangra Valley, Kangra Fort and Palampur are best to explore the beauty of the region. Stay overnight in hotel.

Travel from Mcleodganj to Manali, covering approximately 270 km over 8 hours. The journey takes you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayan foothills, including scenic valleys, lush green forests, and snow-capped mountain peaks. Along the way, you will cross the famous Rohtang Pass, which offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival in Manali, you will check into your hotel and have the rest of the day at your leisure to explore the town and its surroundings. Manali is known for its scenic beauty and adventure activities, including trekking, river rafting, and paragliding, making it a perfect destination for adventure enthusiasts.

On day 7, explore Manali which is known for its serene beauty and adventurous activities, making it a popular destination among travellers. You will visit the Hadimba Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Hadimba, which is surrounded by cedar forests. Later, you will explore the vibrant Manali market, where you can shop for souvenirs and local handicrafts. In the evening, you can take a stroll along Mall Road, which offers stunning views of the Himalayan mountains. With its beautiful landscapes and serene environment, Manali is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Enjoy skiing, snow activities, adventure traits for a fun-filled trip.

Begin your day with a stroll nearby Jogini Waterfalls and enjoy the scenic views of the valley along the way. Or head to the Solang Valley, famous for adventure activities like paragliding, zorbing, and skiing. Must visit Vashisht Hot Springs and take a dip in the hot water to soothe your tired muscles. Whatever you choose to do, make sure to soak in the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Head to Shimla which will take approx. 8 hours to reach. This scenic journey takes you through the Kullu Valley, along the banks of the River Beas, and over the Jalori Pass, offering breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains and lush green forests. Upon arrival in Shimla, check into your hotel and relax for the evening. Known as the 'Queen of Hills', Shimla is a popular tourist destination famous for its colonial architecture, scenic beauty, and pleasant climate. Take a stroll along the famous Mall Road, visit the iconic Christ Church, or simply enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains from your hotel room. This day marks the beginning of your exploration of this charming hill town. Visit Jakhu Temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman located atop Jakhu Hill.

The day will begin with a visit to the Viceregal Lodge, a grand mansion that served as the summer residence of the British viceroys during the colonial era. Shimla is a perfect destination to unwind and immerse oneself in the tranquility of the Himalayan foothills. Head to Kufri and enjoy the scenic drive and indulge in activities like horse riding, yak riding and tobogganing. Wildlife lovers can visit Himalayan National Park famous for various wildlife species as snow leopards, musk deer and Himalayan monal. In the evening, explore the Shimla State Museum which houses a vast collection of artifacts, artworks and cultural exhibits.

Today travel from Shimla to Chandigarh, covering 115 km distance approx. The city is known for its modern architecture and well-planned streets. On arrival in Chandigarh, you will have the opportunity to visit some of the famous attractions of the city, including the Rock Garden, Rose Garden, and Sukhna Lake. Later in the evening, you will board the Shatabdi Express train from Chandigarh to Delhi. This marks the end of your 12-night and 13-day journey through the foothills of the Himalayas, which will undoubtedly leave you with a lifetime of memories.
